I am a second year master student ‘Behavioural and Cognitive Neurosciences’ at the University of Groningen, and I am doing my final internship at the Baby and Child Research Center in Nijmegen. In the research I'm working on, we would like to find out what the brain of 4 year old children looks like moments before they successfully learn something.
To answer this question, we study the brain activity of children while they are watching pictures and short cartoons. We do this with the help of EEG (electroencephalogram), in which the child is given a kind of cap that measures the electrical waves in the brain. We hope that the results of this research will give us more insight into how children learn to understand the world around them.
I can regularly be found in the lab to conduct the research, so who knows, maybe we'll run into each other there!
