The BRC

HomeAbout usThe BRC

The Baby & Child Research Center studies the development of babies and children. Our research institute is a partnership between Radboud University, het Radboudumc en het Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics. We do research at three different locations, all at the university campus in Nijmegen.

Origin

The Baby Research Center was originally set up in 1999 by Prof. Dr. Anne Cutler. The BRC was the first baby research center in the Netherlands where language development and later also social cognitive development of babies and children from birth to 4 years was studied. Later, the Developmental Psychobiology Lab group joined us, with research focusing on pregnant women and the unborn child. In 2017 came yet another expansion of the BRC; in the new Baby & Child Research Center, we study children from conception to six years old.

The BRC has grown into an international renowned research institute with approximately 60 employees. Every day they commit themselves to unravel the fascinating development of baby and child.
