My research focuses on how babies and young children learn about the world and how early experiences with caregivers and the environment shape their learning. Specifically, I’m interested in early learning that helps children develop later social and cognitive skills such as empathy and (moral) decision-making.
Ik heb mijn promotieonderzoek aan de Donders Instituut gedaan waar ik besluitvorming en empathie bij volwassenen bestudeerde. In mijn werk heb ik onderzoek gedaan naar ‘maladaptieve besluitvorming’: wat er gebeurt als het leerproces mislukt en het moeilijker wordt om je aan te passen aan veranderingen. Tegenwoordig, als postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij de BRC, onderzoek ik hoe baby’s leren in de wereld en specifiek in situaties met onvoorspelbare situaties. Met dit onderzoek willen we ontdekken hoe vroege leerervaringen invloed hebben op het leerproces en de besluitvorming. Ook willen we onderzoeken hoe deze vroege patronen bijdragen aan de ontwikkeling van sociale end cognitieve vaardigheden later in het leven.
