How do social interactions early in life shape early development? I am curious about the interplay between cognitive and social processes and their neural underpinnings in early childhood. By studying the brain and behaviour of infants and young children, I hope to contribute some answers to these questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my PhD, I investigated joint action development and its distinct neurocognitive processes: planning, controlling and monitoring one\u2019s own actions as well as predicting and monitoring others\u2019 actions. As a postdoc, I continued my research on joint action development while also investigating other social processes such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Perspective-taking;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learning from others (infant-directed actions);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The development of agency in early infancy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">To investigate early behavior, I make use of <a href=\"http:\/\/babyandchild.nl\/en\/?onderzoeken=aandacht-meten\" target=\"_self\">Eyetracking<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/babyandchild.nl\/en\/?onderzoeken=bewegingen-meten\" target=\"_self\">motion tracking<\/a>. In addition, I use <a href=\"http:\/\/babyandchild.nl\/en\/?onderzoeken=hersenactiviteit-meten\" target=\"_self\">EEG<\/a> to get to know more about infants\u2019 and young children\u2019s brain activity. By combining EEG with behavioral measures, I look into the link between brain activity and young children\u2019s behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">I currently conduct my research as a assistant professor in the Baby Research on Action, Interaction and Neurocognition Group together with professor <a href=\"http:\/\/babyandchild.nl\/en\/medewerkers\/sabine-hunnius\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sabine Hunnius<\/a>.
